FOR MENTAL WELLNESS AWARENESS
MISSION FOR TS MEMORIAL FUND:
To advance mental health awareness within our community, encourage discussion and eliminate the stigma.
Raise money for mental health educational initiatives throughout Haverford Township.
Establish annual scholarships for HHS lacrosse players.
Promote the characteristics Trent was loved for: Inclusion, Leadership, Maximum Effort, Humor & Perspective via student initiatives throughout the Haverford School District.
While there is no longer a Trent Stetler Lacrosse Play Day each spring, funds raised during the five annual Play Days continue to provide valuable services for the Haverford community. We very much appreciate your support over the years and we continue to put your dollars to work.
PROGRAMS FUNDED BY THE TRENT STETLER MEMORIAL FUND:
2021 - 2022
March 2022: The Trent Stetler Fund funded a program at Chatham Park Elementary School, presented by the staff of Minding Your Mind.
The Trent Stetler Memorial Fund provided a grant to the Haverford Township Library for QPR (question, persuade, and respond) and recently the training for staff took place. QPR training teaches people without professional mental health backgrounds to recognize the signs that someone may be considering suicide, establish a dialogue, and guide the person to seek professional help.
The Haverford Township Middle School, thanks to support from the TSMF, continue to provide MYM programs for their students. In September 2021, Scott Pendergrast of Minding Your Mind spoke to students.
A partnership with the Haverford Township Pubic Library: Plans are underway to create a mental health awareness resource area for teens in Trent’s name. Check back for date/time.
Minding Your Mind presentations for both Haverford High School students and their parents, as well as for students in the Haverford Middle School. Check back for date/time.
A partnership with the Haverford Township School District Education Foundation on two mindfulness sessions for parents of middle school students and high school students.
A presentation to 900 students at Haverford High School about mental health awareness, in addition to a presentation to parents from our partnership with Minding Your Mind, a regional mental health speakers bureau.
A documentary short film series screening presented at the Haverford YMCA with talk-back discussion, featuring speakers from OC87 Recovery Diaries, an online resource that encourages individuals to share their mental health recovery stories through writing and art.
A Health series for Haverford Middle School 7th Graders, also presented by Minding Your Mind.
